Holy Saturday
Note: Based on Lectionary Year C
Scripture: Job 14: 1-14
Prayer:
You descended to the dead.
You left us,
shocked and saddened,
confused and fearful,
so You could return to us,
so we could return to You.
Help us to cleave to this knowledge
when we face the hopeless endings
of injustice,
of relationships,
of lives.
Holy Saturdays are the hardest days.
But we will trust You,
for nothing will be impossible with You. Amen.
Singing: Choose an appropriate hymn to sing together, such
as:
Jesus, Remember Me, Luke 23:42, music by Jacques Berthier, 1978
Proclamation:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, says my soul,
therefore I will hope in him. ~ Lamentations 3: 22-24
